At Seth Boyden, parents are valued as a vital part of our school community. Parents are both welcomed and needed at the school. Many parents participate individually in class-based activities, such as class gardens or field trips. Others participate through our PTA or our other parent-based committees-- the Alternative Funding Committee and the Garden Committee. These groups, run by parent volunteers, provide our children with a wealth of activities, events, and resources, which complement the comprehensive education that Seth Boyden offers.

PTA

Seth Boyden's PTA sponsors numerous activities and events for our children and their families. Examples include:

Alternative Funding Committee

The AFT is a new committee composed of parent volunteers and administration. The AFT�s goal is to seek outside funding support for initiatives identified by our principal and assistant principal. The AFT also works to establish long-term relationships with businesses and foundation donors.

Last year the AFT raised or received donations of:

$3,900 for books for classroom libraries
$5,000 for scholarship support for the NJASK After School Stars Program
Over 500 books for individual students

Strawberry Fields Committee

The Strawberry Fields Committee works with the PTA to provide support for our school gardening program. The Committee provides organization, funding, volunteers, and advice for the program. The Committee also runs our outdoor recess program Garden Detectives.
